Education Sector

The Education Sector Adaptation Framework recognises the impacts that climate change and disasters can have on access to education, learning outcomes, school infrastructure and the continuity of education services. Under the NAP, the sector focuses on three strategies and eight actions aimed at ensuring equitable access to education, maintaining quality education amid climate change and disasters, and strengthening governance and preparedness within the education system.

The eight actions include school feeding and rainwater harvesting, remedial lessons, disaster preparedness drills, school-based early warning systems, learning continuity measures supported by digital backups, curriculum and teacher training, and school safety planning. The framework sets targets to 2030, including achieving a school safety index of at least 70%. Together, these measures aim to strengthen the ability of schools and the education system to anticipate, withstand and recover from climate-related disruptions while ensuring that children can continue to access education.
